There are 40,000 new HIV infections diagnosed each year. Of that number, 25% or 10,000 are people under the age of 21. Not worried? You should be. One in four people in the United States with HIV do not know they are infected. In a recent study, 77% of those who tested HIV-positive thought they were not infected.
In addition to HIV there are more than 25 diseases spread primarily by sexual activity. Many of these sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are curable, but others are not. If left untreated, even curable STDs can cause long-term health problems for both men and women.
